Organ donation law in Guernsey
Guernsey has an opt out system for organ donation, also known as deemed consent.
This system was introduced on 1 January 2023.
Under the opt out system, it will be considered that you agree to become an organ donor when you die if you have not opted out and are not in an excluded group.
It is still important that you make a decision about organ and tissue donation and record this on the NHS Organ Donor Register. Your registered decision will help your loved ones to know what you want to happen if you are able to become a donor. Your loved ones will always be approached to support your decision, so it's important you share it with them.
