Sam Vanderpump launches 'The Vanderpump Organ Challenge' with NHS Blood and Transplant
Made in Chelsea star and NHS Blood and Transplant ambassador, Sam Vanderpump, has created 'The Vanderpump Organ Challenge' to raise awareness of organ donation for over 8,000 people who, like himself, are currently on the transplant waiting list.
Sam was born with liver and kidney disease, but lived largely symptom-free until December 2024, when a bout of flu triggered life-threatening organ failure caused by sepsis.
'The Vanderpump Organ Challenge' involves making a smoothie of your choice (ideally pink!) and drinking as much of it as you can within a 9 second time limit. If you don't finish it in that time, you need to tip the remaining smoothie over your head.
When talking about the challenge, Sam Vanderpump said:
"This challenge is a fun way to raise awareness, something we can all be part of. But behind it is a serious message: thousands of people across the UK are waiting for a life-saving transplant. Most of us say we support organ donation, but that support only truly matters if it's registered on the NHS Organ Donor Register and shared with your family."
How you can get involved
By taking The Vanderpump Organ Challenge you’ll show your support, and that you’ve confirmed your decision on the NHS OrganDonor Register, whilst encouraging other people to register too.
Please do not take part if you have a health condition which could be affected by doing this challenge. You can support us instead by registering your decision and sharing this decision on social media.
If you want to get involved and take part in the challenge view our Sway document to learn more and get instructions on how to participate.
