Educational resources

These resources are designed to equip secondary school teachers with the knowledge to educate and engage students about organ donation, empowering them to openly discuss organ donation with their family and friends.

They have been put together by teachers, educators and clinicians and are aimed at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students in England. The Scottish education pack can be found here.

Our aim is to empower you to educate your students and inspire them to have a conversation about organ donation and transplantation with their families and friends.

We have produced an information pack to give you the necessary knowledge and skills, so that you can confidently and successfully deliver these lessons.

Lesson plans

There are three lesson plans each linking to the PSHE National Curriculum and consisting of distinctive parts including an introduction, student activities and a plenary.

The resources include corresponding PowerPoint slides, student activity sheets with accompanying videos and case studies and a student take home sheet including facts to facilitate conversations at home.

The lesson plans can each be delivered within a 45 to 60 minute lesson.

We would recommend referring to the ‘FAQ’ and ‘In-depth information’ documents beforehand, as these include more detail on organ donation and transplantation. Please also see the teacher guidance document offering support on how to teach a sensitive subject.
