There are currently 1604 people in London waiting for an organ transplant. Although 479 people in the capital received an organ transplant last year – the highest for several years – the same period saw 66 people die while waiting.
1.48 million Londoners have joined the NHS Organ Donor Register to date which represents 20% of the city’s total population.
