Faith Roadshows
Research findings suggest that one of the main barriers to joining the NHS Organ Donation Register for some ethnic minorities is the notion that their religion might prevent them from agreeing to donate their organs after death. This in fact isn't necessarily the case. All major faiths support the principles of organ donation and transplantation including: Islam, Hinduism, Sikhism, Catholicism and Protestantism. Organ donation is a matter of personal choice and people may want to discuss it further with their religious leader.
With this in mind, as part of our ‘Real People, Real Lives, Real Action’ campaign we will be holding a series of faith sessions over the next few months in partnership with religious organisations. The sessions will encourage conversation about organ donation, and information will be available for congregations to take away for consideration or for further discussion with their families.

Shopping Centre Events
Alongside the faith sessions a number of events at shopping centres, cash and carries, local markets and supermarkets will also be taking place in London, Birmingham, Leicester, Manchester, Leeds and Bradford. The events will spread awareness about organ donation and how it affects Black and Asian communities. They will get people talking about organ donation, answer any questions or concerns, and encourage people to sign up to the Register.
