Every one of us can help save lives. Whether you’re an individual, company or charity, you can help us by encouraging more people to sign up to the NHS Organ Donor Register.
You can find a whole host of ideas and tips on how to set about it in our Publicity Guide.
To help you we can supply free leaflets and promotional materials - to find out more, see our promo catalogue for details.
Get neighbourhood shops to help
Ask shops in your local high street to display posters and/or organ donation leaflets in dispensers. Ask local community centres and village halls to do the same.
Share someone's mailing
Include organ donation leaflets in a local newsletter mailing, or place an article in a newsletter.
Organise a stand
Seek permission to erect a small stand in your local shopping centre, supermarket, cinema, theatre foyer, school fete, staff canteen or other busy area.
Make a speech
There are many thousands of organisations, clubs and societies, large and small, which meet regularly. Most of these are eager to attract interesting speakers. Contact the secretary or other organiser and offer yourself, or a colleague, as a speaker about organ donation.
Use of organ donation artwork and images
If you are planning an organ donation campaign we can supply artwork for standard registration forms of various sizes for insertion into newsletters, magazines, payslip flyers, leaflets, newspapers.
However, if you are developing your own materials and want to use our organ donation branding you must seek approval from Campaigns at NHS Blood and Transplant.
The images and straplines, eg "Organ donation. So life can go on.", associated with organ donation have a high national profile of great integrity. It is important that this integrity is maintained across any material that promotes awareness about donation and we protect them against misuse. To obtain guidelines and permission to use our images, including the donor card image, blue ribbon and red heart or straplines, contact campaigns@nhsbt.nhs.uk.
Track your success
Whatever you decide to do, it's always good to know how successful you’ve been. We can issue a unique campaign code for you to put on registration forms which will enable us to track the number of responses you achieve. We can also record online responses or calls to our Organ Donor Line as a result of your campaign.
Publicising the Organ Donor Line number
If you are organising a high profile campaign featuring the Organ Donor Line number on national TV or radio please make sure you alert NHS Blood and Transplant. This will allow us to take on additional telephone operators if necessary.
If you need advice or are planning a campaign simply email us at campaigns@nhsbt.nhs.uk Include your email and telephone contact details and we’ll get in touch as soon as we can.
Please note that unfortunately we are unable to provide funds to support individual promotions. Our limited funds are committed to printing organ donation materials, supporting national initiatives and running the Organ Donor Line.
